Geetesh is a Managing Director in Research and has been with the firm since 2011. He is responsible for developing and testing investment ideas that underpin SummerHaven’s investment strategy. His research has been published in both academic and practitioner oriented journals. Geetesh was previously a Senior Economist with Vanguard where he conducted research in alternative investment strategies. Prior to joining Vanguard, he conducted fundamental research on commodity futures markets, at AIG Financial Products. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Rutgers University.
Jake joined SummerHaven’s trading department in 2017. Previously he was Head of Global Commodities at AIG Financial Products, which encompassed diversified index and custom strategy swaps, structured finance of metals and grains, and structured energy investment hedging. He represented AIG-FP on the Market Risk Committee of Tenaska Marketing Ventures, a US natural gas storage and transportation trading concern. He also ran Global Equity Derivatives trading at AIG-FP and served on AIG-FP’s Executive Steering Committee. Prior to this he ran US Equity Derivatives Trading at UBS.
Jake began his trading career on the floors of the AMEX and CBOE as an options market-maker with O’Connor & Associates. He earned a BS and MS in Materials Science and Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and researched low-temperature deposition processes at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Raj is a Managing Director in Research and has been with the firm since 2010. In addition to general research, he is also responsible for the management of SummerHaven’s Indices, ensuring the accuracy of signal data and generating data for various electronic and paper marketing documents. Prior to SummerHaven Raj was a research assistant to Professor Rouwenhorst at Yale University. He has an MBA from Yale School of Management and a Bachelors in Technology from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
Chris is a Partner focused on marketing and investor relations. Previously, he was a Senior Client Advisor at Kepos Capital, a quantitative global macro and liquid alternatives investment manager. Chris was responsible for managing key relationships with large institutional investors in the U.S. and abroad.
Prior to Kepos, Chris spent 12 years at Bridgewater Associates. During his tenure he held senior roles in Bridgewater’s relationship management, analytics, and global marketing groups. After Bridgewater, he worked with emerging and seed stage hedge fund managers in developing institutional marketing campaigns.
Chris earned his B.S. in Finance from Fairfield University and became a CFA charterholder in 2001.
Kurt is a Founding Partner and Head of Client Solutions. Previously, he was Head of the Commodity Index business at UBS Investment Bank. He was a member of the Supervisory Committee for both the DJ-UBS Commodity Index (now known as the Bloomberg Commodity Index) and the UBS Bloomberg CMCI Index. Kurt was also responsible for launching the UBS Exchange-traded note platform (E-TRACS). Kurt created and managed the high net worth business for AIG Financial Products and also provided equity derivative and commodity index solutions for US corporations, institutional dealers and principal dealers.
Kurt received his B.S. in Mathematics from the College of William and Mary.
Riz is a Founding Partner and Head of Trading. He is responsible for the day to day management of SummerHaven. Previously, Riz was Deputy Head of Global Commodities and Head of Commodities Trading at UBS Investment Bank. He also held positions of Global Head of Metals, Global Head of Fixed Income Repo and Head of Precious Metals Rate & Forwards Trading. Riz worked at UBS AG and its predecessors for over 13 years. Prior to joining UBS, he was Head of FX Options Trading for the Americas at Credit Suisse and before that, he was an FX Options trader at Susquehanna Investment Group. He started his career as a trader on various exchanges in Philadelphia, Chicago and New York for local trading groups.
Riz received his B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Board Member of the Rodney L. White Center for Financial Research and a Member of the Undergraduate Board at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania
Geert is a Founding Partner and Head of Research. He is also Deputy Dean for Curriculum Development, Robert B. and Candace J. Haas Professor of Corporate Finance at the Yale School of Management and the Deputy Director of the International Center for Finance at Yale.
Geert was a consultant on commodities products for AIG Financial Products for over 5 years, where he was actively involved in educating clients on his research. Geert received his MS in Economics and BA in Law from Erasmus University, Rotterdam, The Netherlands and also earned a M.S. in Economics and Ph.D in Business Administration from the University of Rochester.
Joe is a Partner, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Compliance Officer. Prior to SummerHaven, Joe was the Chief Operating Officer and a Managing Partner at Basso Capital Management, L.P. and was responsible for the oversight of the firm’s day-to-day operations. Prior to Basso Capital, Joe was a Vice President at AIG Trading Group where he designed systems, procedural protocol and managed the daily operations for the fixed income and foreign currency options department. Prior to AIG Trading, Joe was an Assistant Vice President and Operations Manager for AIG International Asset Management (now known as DKR Capital) where he was responsible for the design and management of the operations for several funds across multiple asset classes. Prior to AIG International Asset Management, he was an Analyst at The Bank of New York in the specialized derivatives group and he also spent several years in private accounting. Joe received a B.B.A in Finance from Baruch College.
Kevin is a Managing Director in Trading, where he is responsible for all day to day trading activities. He has been at SummerHaven since 2011. Prior to joining SummerHaven he was a trader at Indus Capital. Kevin has over 10 years trading experience. He also served in the United States Marine Corps from 1995 to 1999. He received his BBA in Accounting from Hofstra University.
Babu is the Chief Technology Officer and Managing Director at SummerHaven. Previously, he was a Special Consultant to the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund, responsible for migrating their trading platforms for Equity, Fixed Income and FX. Prior to that, Babu was the Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Ameritas Investment Partners where he was responsible for developing, maintaining and researching infrastructure and trading technologies along with trading operations for equity, fixed income and index derivatives. He was part of the founding team at Summit Investment Partners which was subsequently acquired by Ameritas. He received his M.A. in Mathematics from the University of Maine and was the Assistant Professor of Mathematics & Computer Science at the College of Wooster while he was working on his Ph.D. at The Ohio State University.
Glenn is a Senior Administrative Accountant. He is responsible for accounting, financial reporting and maintenance of related databases for all of SummerHaven entities. Previously, Glenn was managing member of a Quickbooks Consulting business, serving high net worth clients. He received a B.A. in Economics from Queens College in Flushing , New York. He served in the U,S. Army for two years, and received an honorable discharge at the end of his service. Glenn received an MBA in Economics from St. John’s University and was appointed to Omicron Delta Epsilon, an International Honor Society in Economics.
Donald Keim is the John B. Neff Professor of Finance and Director of the Rodney L. White Center for Financial Research at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. His research has dealt with the relation between stock returns and predetermined variables (dividend yields, market cap, earnings/price ratios, and calendar turning points), tests of asset pricing models, the behavior of institutional investors with respect to trading and stock holdings, the risks and returns of stock market-based real estate investments, and the junk bond market.
He received a BS from Bucknell University and an MBA and PhD from the University of Chicago
Erik Stafford is the John A. Paulson Professor of Business Administration. Erik joined the faculty at Harvard Business School in July 1999, where he has taught finance in the required and elective curricula of the MBA Program and in the CFA Investment Management Workshop.
Erik’s research efforts focus on investment management, capital markets, and the financial system. Two of his papers have won annual prizes for research excellence. “Managerial Decisions and Long-Term Stock Price Performance,” written with Mark Mitchell, won the Merton Miller Prize for the paper deemed most significant in the 2000 Journal of Business , and “Limited Arbitrage in Equity Markets,” written with Mark Mitchell and Todd Pulvino, won the Smith-Breeden Prize for outstanding paper in the Journal of Finance.
Erik has an undergraduate degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Maryland and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.
